NO! The IFT Home Gym can perform like an upper pulley cable system and a suspension trainer. However, the IFT not only locks to perform static style body-weight movements, but it unlocks allowing the master wheel to rotate to change those same static movements into dynamic rotational movements. It is recommended to start of performing static non-rotational movements to build up strength and balance while doing suspended body weight exercises. Once you're comfortable with static movements and ready to challenge your strength and balance, slowly incorporate those same moves in a rotational format.
To add resistance, beyond your own body weight, simply attach one end of the working strap to a resistance source such as bands, sandbags, kettlebells, barbells, or plates using a loading pin. Attach your choice of cable machine style accessories to the other end including the Multipurpose Adjustable Handles, the Foot Stirrups, or wooden climbing grips. Just about anything you currently have at home or at the gym can be attached. The options are virtually endless.
The IFT Home Gym allows the user to perform not only traditional suspension orientated training movements but also those same movements in a rotational form. It allows you to increase the complexities of all the moves performed on a traditional suspended trainer by working your core and stabilizer muscles in a different way, while you develop your balance and coordination in addition to strength and endurance. It also allows you to attach resistance to perform many of the exercises you would on a cable machine and to change out the grips to further maximize your workout options.
The Figure 8 Slap Strap & carabiner allows for the IFT to be hung from a bar or beam that is within reach.
The 4’ Extender is ideal for mounting the on higher, thicker bars, tree branches, basketball poles/fences, anywhere out of reach of the IFT hub.
The Door Mount can be installed on any sturdy outward opening door. (Use correctly for safe use!)
Connect directly to any ceiling mount (not included) with the included carabiner.
NOTE: The IFT MUST be mounted on a structure that can hold at least 250 lbs./113kg dynamic weight, the maximum, fully suspended weight that the IFT is rated for.
The long handles maximize functionality. They can be used in both vertical and horizontal piston grip style, as foot cradles (although we have amazing foot stirrups for this purpose), or as a harness for agility moves.
The second loop, located near the grips, when attached to the same carabiner, will shorten the grips from 15.25" to a shorter 9.25" length.
Yes! Using our padded Door Mount, and anchored over an outward opening door, will protect your door while using the IFT Home Gym.
With the Multipurpose Adjustable Handles, the length can be adjusted from 15.25" to 9.25" for tight spaces.
Many of the standard moves and/or modifications to some of the rotational moves can be performed on the door, and it is recommended to have a clearance of at least 10-15 feet to fully take advantage of the versatility of the IFT.
Attaching the IFT to a ceiling mount (purchased separately) if a doorway doesn't provide you with the clearance needed.
Please visit our “IFT Instructions” page for a detailed explanation with diagrams.
The adjustable heel strap on our Foot Stirrups accommodates just about any size foot and allows you to lock your foot in place in both toe-up and toe-down positions. The result is you can focus on the exercise and movement and not on trying to keep your feet in place.
The 4’ Extender is ideal for mounting the IFT Home Gym on poles, beams, or branches that are too thick for the Figure 8 Slap Strap or too high to reach the IFT.
Ways to use the Extender:
With a vertical support such as a pole, wrap the Extender around it tightly so it crosses itself as many times as possible, then either hook the carabiner through loops on both ends OR feed the Extender through itself and attach the IFT to the free end. Either will keep the IFT from sliding or slipping down the pole as you use it.
On a branch or beam that is too high or too thick to use the Figure 8 Slap Strap, toss the 4’ Extender over and hook the IFT through loops on both ends OR feed the Extender through itself and hook the IFT on the free end.
See IFT Instructions page for more detailed instructions.
Although you can certainly use the IFT outside, it is NOT recommended leaving it outside. Metal can corrode and rust and the grease that keeps the locking jaws closing properly will degrade faster. The nylon straps and plastics will also degrade making the system unsafe over time.
